Carol Marsden

Carol (Miner) Marsden, was born on October 26, 1964 and raised in El Paso, Texas; where she was the youngest of five children. Her mother was a successful realtor who owned her own business, and her father was a homicide detective before becoming a private investigator that solved insurance frauds. She graduated high school at the top of her class and relatively soon after got married on May 23, 1984 to Jesus Isidiro Marsden, who was in the Navy. They had their first child, Baron, on November 10, 1984. Molly, their second child was born on April 29, 1986. And Ethan, their third was born on December 21, 1987. At the age of 20, Carol enrolled at the University of Texas El Paso and embarked on her journey as a scholar. While being a full time mom she managed to stay in school part-time and work. In 26 years she's accumulated four degrees. They are as follows; Associates in Arts & Sciences, Bachelors in Science & Psychology, Bachelors in Science & Nursing, and just this year, she graduated from Nursing School with her Masters. While she was working on her Masters in nursing she took on the job of a clinical instructor in the Neurology Unit at ARMC. She says that since graduating her dream job would be to work as a Nurse Practitioner for the Health Department; However, if she could just continue teaching or work in a simulation lab at MCG she would be happy. Her two greatest achievement are her kids, who are "Good human beings and make the world a better place." and graduating from Nursing School, which was the hardest thing she has ever done. She and Jesus are currently in the process of adopting Carol's 6 year old twin cousins, Haley and Devon. She hopes to give them a better life and great opportunities so that they can grow into wonderful people. In her pastime she enjoys learning how to play the banjo, spending time with family, reading, watching live music, attending ministry events, and online shopping. She tries to give back to the community and the world in any way she can. She donates time, blood at blood drives, participates in food drives, and medical missions. Last year she went to the Peru Inca Highlands and spent a week performing medical tasks on rather less than fortunate people who live in the community. She sponsors children through Child Fund, where she's watched 3 boys from the Philippines grow up. She also sponsors a young boy in Africa, through World Vision. Her parents have instilled great morals in her. She is a hard-working, compassionate, caring, honest person who loves giving and never asks for anything in return. She is an inspiration to me to be a great mother, a good person and she has shown me that determination will get you where you want in life. I am glad to have a mother-in-law that I get along with and who can be a great influence for my daughter.
